2012-BMW-M5-F10-At-Track-Side-Ways

BMW released a video of their upcoming M5 (F10) testing at their test track at Miramas, France.  The video looks pretty good with the BMW M5 F10 being thrashed around the track to test every aspect of the car for best performance, reliability, and comfort.

The new BMW M5 F10 will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8 engine which is expected to produce 575 horsepower.  The engine revs pretty nicely in the video below and sounds not too shabby either.  The 2012 M5 will come with two options for transmission, a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic.  BMW recently confirmed an all-wheel-drive model for the M5 F10, should be a fun car that should compete nicely against Audi’s RS models.  Video after the jump… continue reading →

Stasis-Engineering-Audi-R8-V8

American car tuning firm STaSIS Engineering recently tuned the Audi R8 V8 coupe called the STaSIS Challenge Extreme Edition; it produces an impressive 540 horsepower.  The additional 120 HP is achieved with the installation of an Eaton/Magnusson TVS 1900 supercharger, an independent charge cooler system, and a re-mapping of the factory ECU.  A new stainless steel exhaust system was also installed for reduced back pressure and better sound.

The new horsepower numbers may not seem too impressive to some but keep in mind that the new Audi R8 V10 produces 530 horsepower in stock form.  Torque has been increased as well from 350 pound-feet (475 Nm) to 435 pound-feet (590 Nm). continue reading →

Volkswagen-Polo-R-WRC

I used to be big fan of rally racing, haven’t watched it much lately, not sure why?  It is very entertaining and the crashes are pretty spectacular.  Recently Mini announced it will be entering World Rally Championship and not to be outdone, Volkswagen has just announced they will be entering a Polo R WRC in the 2013 season.

The VW Polo R WRC is currently being developed and it will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged 1.6 liter engine that will produce 300 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Nm) of torque.  Power will be sent to all four wheels via sequential gearbox. continue reading →

Porsche-Cayman-S-Black-Edition

Porsche unveiled their latest special edition package, this time for the Cayman S, called the Cayman S Black Edition.  The special edition Porsche features a bit of power increase and special colors on the exterior and the interior and is limited to 500 units worldwide.

The Porsche Cayman S Black Edition sees an increase of 10 ponies from the 3.4 liter 6-cylinder boxer engine to a maximum 330 horsepower at 7,400 rpm.  The torque output remains the same at 273 pound-feet (370 Nm) at 4,750 rpm.  The small increase in power allows the Cayman S Black Edition to sprint to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds when equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission (0.1 seconds faster than the Cayman S).  The sprint to 62 mph can be achieved in 5.0 seconds with the addition of the optional PDK double-clutch automatic transmission.  But if you want to get to 62 mph even faster, 0.2 seconds faster, you should get the optional Sport Chrono package and activate the Launch Control. continue reading →
