BMW-5-Series-E60

Here is a great example of how a luxury car can be modified without going over the top like many of the ricer boys do. I’ve always been a fan of subtle modifications which give cars a very clean and sleek look. Sometimes, less is more. Let’s have a look at this 2005 BMW 530i.

The owner of this vehicle started with minimal modifications to the engine to increase performance. An RPI intake scoop has been installed along with an RPI Section II free-flow exhaust system painted in matte black. The suspension also received an upgrade by incorporating JIC Cross coilover suspension to help improve an already great handling luxury sedan. continue reading →

Bo-Zoland-1955-Ford-Thunderbird-Concept-Blue

Thunderbird, meet Mustang. Mustang, meet Thunderbird. What happens when modern car makes sweet sweet love to a classic car? The result is a beautifully re-designed 1955 Ford Thunderbird by Bo Zoland of VizualTech in Sweden.

Bo Zolland is experienced in coming up with amazing custom designs of automobiles and 3D modeling of cars. This particular Thunderbird project will retain the classic lines of the 1950’s but will also incorporate modern technology.  The Thunderbird will use the chassis of a 2009 Ford Mustang as well as other important components from the Mustang. The Thunderbird will be powered by a 4.6 liter V8 engine. Unlike some of Bo Zolland’s previous takes on classic cars, this one is rumored to be an actual project car that will be produced. continue reading →

Last year at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, Porsche revealed the concept car 918 Spyder featuring a V8 engine and two electric motors. And now, the company has just revealed a racing version of it at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show and is being referred to as the Porsche 918 RSR.

The Porsche 918 RSR will integrate the technology and designs that are currently being used on the Porsche GT3 R Hybrid and the 918 Spyder. This results in a stunning race car which is able to put out a total of 767 horsepower. Most of the power (562 horsepower), is produced by the 6.2 liter V8 engine while the remaining power is put out by electric engines which are powered by a flywheel accumulator located in the passenger seating area. The two electric motors will power each of the front wheels. continue reading →

Lamborghini-Aventador-LP700-4-834

Lamborghini didn’t present any cars at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, however, autoblog did get to speak to the Sant’ Agata based company’s CEO Stephen Winkelmann and R&D head Mauirizio Reggiani about the Murcielago replacement car.

As it turns out the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 might now be called Lamborghini 834 (I’m still betting on Aventador with some numbers in the name).  Lamborghini wants the Aventador 834 to be “the trendsetter for the next decade”, which will be featuring a V12 engine, all-wheel drive, big air-intakes, and of course the famous Lambo scissor doors. continue reading →

Veilside-Ferrari-F430

Another tuner, another body kit, and another set of wheels. Is this what tuning is these days? Slap on a few parts and call it a special edition? But to be fair, why mess with perfection such as the 2010 Ferrari F430. Premier 4509, which is Veilside’s luxury brand, had previously released a body kit for the Ferrari F430. Wheels Boutique is now jumping on the bandwagon and giving the same model a new set of wheels. The whole package is apparently limited to 300 units.

The Veilside body kit package gives the Ferrari F430 a new aggressive front bumper and integrates new side skirts the flow with the cars sexy curves. A newly designed bumper and rear wing are also part of the Veilside package. And of course, Wheels Boutique provides aggressive looking glass black wheels. The front will receive 20” wheels while the rear gets treated to 21” wheels. continue reading →

Wimmer-RS-Ariel-Atom

Some people are hard to please and this is exactly the case with the technicians over at Wimmer RS. Apparently the stock Ariel Atom 3-300 which pumps out 300 horsepower and does the 0-60 in sub three seconds is not good enough. Considering the Ariel Atom 3 only weighs 1,034 pounds, many would consider it to be a little rocket, but not the guys at Wimmer RS.

The German tuner has introduced a new tuning kit for the Atom which consists of optimizing the ECU mapping, a high output fuel pump, overhaul of the compressor, and a new exhaust system by Rennkat. The modified 2.0 Liter engine is now able to put down 340 horsepower and 282 pound-feet (382 Nm) of torque. Remember that this vehicle weighs next to nothing! The modified Ariel Atom 3 is now able to do the 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and can hit the 125 mph marker in only 7.1 seconds. These numbers are in the crotch rocket territory. continue reading →
