Royal-Enfield-Classic-500-Motorcycle-Red

Continuing with our coverage of retro motorcycles (click), here’s another beautiful retro bike that looks like it came out of the post-World War II era.  The Royal Enfield Classic 500 reminds us of the cliché “good ole days”, without the mechanical problems associated with the machines from that era.

The Royal Enfield Classic 500 packs all new technologies that maximize the amount of time spent riding instead of the bike being worked on in the shop.  The bike is powered by a 500 cc fuel injected 4-stroke single-cylinder engine that’s air cooled.  The engine produces only 27.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 30.46 pound-feet (41.3 Nm) of torque.  The power is miniscule compared to vehicles we normally cover here at First SuperCars but this motorcycle is not meant to break any speed records, still, it can reach a respectable 80 mph top speed. continue reading →

New black 2011 Kawaskai Ninja 650R

The new 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 650R has minimal changes from the previous year with a few minor upgrades and a new selection of colors to choose from. The Ninja 650R is able to use a narrow and light-weight frame thanks to the very compact eight-valve 649cc parallel twin engine. Kawasaki engineers have tuned the bike so that the fuel injection and ignition settings help boost the engine’s bottom-end torque and allow the engine to rev up quicker.

The 2011 Ninja 650r features integrated turn signals and a sharp tail cowl built into the semi-sporty styling. The Ninja also features MotoGP inspired instruments and controls.  The rider will notice that Kawasaki engineers have put the rider first when designing this motorcycle. The chassis is slim, the controls such as the positioning of the shift lever, and seating is placed as low possible. continue reading →

Kootenay-Motorcycle-Art-Glasgow-Kiss

In the world of custom choppers there are hundreds of companies producing bikes that have tons of chrome, huge rear tires, and some pretty nasty paint jobs.  For that reason I try to stay away from posting about them, some people like that style but it ain’t for me.

There are certain exceptions, choppers like the “Glasgow Kiss”, which gives the custom bike an elegant and understated look.  The bike is built by Robbie Kerr at Kootenay Motorcycle Art, a Canadian custom motorcycle builder. continue reading →

Fat-Attack-The-One-Bike

Super sexy Harley Davidson based custom motorcycle; “The One” is built by custom bike builders, Fat Attack from Switzerland.  Who knew the Swiss had custom bikes in their blood, I guess all that watch making experience paid off.

The One is a great looking custom motorcycle with a really low ride height and a pronouncing rear tire.  The exhaust system is unique, very elegant and masculine all at the same time.  The bike’s headlight reminds me of some sort of a robot eye from a movie that I can’t recall. continue reading →

Buell-1125CR-Concept-Bike

Before Buell closed up shop in 2009, they had commissioned Spanish design firm Edda Design to revamp the 1125CR street bike.  The end result was this mean looking motorcycle, which never made it to production.  Maybe someday Buell will come back and build it, one can only hope… continue reading →

The Triumph Daytona 675 is one of the most beautiful sport bikes currently available and is in my top two favorite bike list (the other is of course the Ducati 848 EVO).  For this year’s EICMA show, Triumph brought a Daytona 675 R version.  The 675 R is a special race-ready street bike that was developed with suspension specialists Ohlins.

The Triumph Daytona R is equipped with Ohlins 43 mm NIX30 front forks, which are usually found on exotic Italian motorcycles and on race bikes.  In the rear, they put in a TT36 suspension and Brembo brakes in the front and rear.

The Triumph Daytona 675 R is visually identical to the standard version with a few carbon fiber pieces added in for a bit of weight savings and shares the same engine that produces 125 horsepower at 12,500 rpm and best-in-class 53 pound-feet (72 Nm) of torque.
