Our favorite Italian Grand Touring car gets a bit leaner and meaner with the all new Maserati GranCabrio Sport.
The new for 2011 convertible gets 450 horsepower (up from 434) from its 4.7 liter all-aluminum V8 engine and produces 376 pound-feet (510 Nm) of torque. The GranCabrio Sport can now reach a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h) and uses 6% less fuel. The V8 is mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission that uses software borrowed from the Quattroporte GT S sedan, resulting in quicker gear shifts. Skyhook active suspension has been added for better handling and drilled dual-cast disk brakes for improved stopping distance. continue reading →

Novitec Rosso, one of our favorite car tuning companies introduces their latest car, the Ferrari 458 Italia. The car will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
I think the Ferrari 458 Italia is one of the most beautiful cars in the world and doesn’t need any tuning but the Novitec 458 Italia is acceptable; the visual upgrades are minimal and have been done in the name of better aerodynamics. The car was taken to the wind tunnel at the University of Stuttgart, as a result, carbon fiber components were developed for better aerodynamics. Carbon fiber winglets were added to the front flaps and attached to the bumper, the fender mounted louvers, rear wing, and the diffuser was also made out of carbon fiber. continue reading →

At first glance, looking at the Imperia GP, you ask yourself, “is this a Morgan, a Weismann, or an old school American hot rod?” The answer is, none of the above. Belgian car maker Imperia Automobiles, which I had never heard of until today, used to produce cars in the early 1900’s to the 1950’s.
In 2008, the company started to revive the brand as an old school hot rod. When you look at the Imperia GP, you would expect a high horsepower V8 under the hood. Looks can be deceiving as under the hood it houses a 1.6 liter turbo engine which puts out 209 (154 kW) horsepower and 184 pound-feet (250 Nm) of torque. In addition to the gasoline engine, an electric motor provides an additional 136 HP (100 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque. This modern hybrid technology propels the Imperia GP from 0-60 mph in 4 seconds. A 0-60 mph run on the electric motor only, results in an astonishing 6 seconds. continue reading →
